What a blocked gutter really costs
Water that can’t get down the downpipe goes over the edge instead. It runs down the wall, gets in behind the fascia, and soaks the bargeboard. None of that announces itself. It turns up eighteen months later as a stain on a ceiling or a soft patch of timber, and by then it’s a builder’s job rather than ours.
Clearing it once or twice a year is the cheapest maintenance you’ll ever do on a house.

Why we clear by hand first
Because flushing a gutter that’s packed solid with silt and leaf mulch just pushes the blockage down into the downpipe, where it becomes a much worse problem. Hand clearing first and flushing second takes longer. It’s also the only way to leave the system genuinely clear.
The bit most people can’t answer
When did you last have the spouting done? Most people honestly have no idea. One customer told us “when were the birds up there last?” and another said “probably thirty years ago”. Nobody is being told off here. It’s just the job that never makes it to the top of the list, because you can’t see it.
